Seymour Barton, great grandfather to many present day residents of Nipissing and Restoule, came to the area in pursuit of the Free Land Grants Act of 1880. He and his wife traveled from Shawville, Quebec in 1890, to settle in what was then called Hotham, where they built their homestead.
While this structure no longer exists, you can still pay witness to the building encompassing the kitchen area, built by his son, William in the early 1900's. Settlers Guesthouse is located on 100 of the original 300 acre parcel.
Settlers Guesthouse Bed & Breakfast is now a tribute to that time of renewal and natural awakening.
A peaceful getaway with a touch of history.
