Paddling Workshops in Restoule Provincial Park

Introduction to canoeing- July 25th10am-12pm or 1:30pm-3:30pm,

Aug 8th 10am-12pm or 1:30pm-3:30pm.

Price includes 2 nights accommodation, 2 breakfasts, 1 packed lunch and 2 hour workshop (bring your own canoe, rentals en route). From $140 per person based on double occupancy.

  

 

Private lessons for canoe and kayak can be arranged!  Prices from $60 per person for a two hour lesson, $85 per person for a four hour lesson.  Minimum two participants. Additional fees for meals, accommodations, etc. All courses have minimum/maximum requirements and participants are responsible for their own canoe/kayak.

Cooking with Honey:

Join Ann Board of Board's Honey Farm, Restoule as you work together to prepare (and eat) a delicious, healthy lunch featuring their locally produced honey as a key ingredient. Breads, salads, marinades and desserts will all share the spotlight in this fun and educational morning workshop. Ann will regale participants with stories and facts from her life on the honey farm. A tour of the facilities is also included.

Discovering GPS:

Join Canadian Ecology Centre certified, GPS instructor Brenda Detta in one of two courses offered on site at Settlers Guesthouse. The Basic GPS Course is a three hour lesson on the basics of GPS navigation. You will learn to: pinpoint your location, enter coordinates, mark waypoints, plot a course and create routes. You will get hands-on experience outdoors with a supplied GPS and will learn about the sport of Geocaching. Offered May to October. Minimum 4 participants. Price includes: 2 nights accommodation, 2 breakfasts, 1 gourmet lunch and 3 hours of instruction. From $170 per person based on double occupancy.

Advanced Course:

This National Green Check GPS Certification Course will provide the student with the ability to apply basic GPS, map and compass skills through hands-on experience and training scenarios. This eight hour course will provide: an introduction to GPS, an examination between the map, compass and GPS, a detailed examination of maps and their types, detailed use of waypoints, use of GOTO function and how to create and follow a route. Bird and Nature Watching:

Join local guide, Steve Morrin, for a morning hike or full day canoe trip and watch the birds of the Almaguin burst into song. There are several local hotspots for birds during the spring and fall migration times (May, June and September). Some of the regional favourites are: Olive-sided Flycatcher, Spruce Grouse, Black-backed Woodpecker, Trumpeter Swan, Sandhill Crane and the Least and American Bitterns. Of course, there is abundant wildlife in the area, and Steve is always eager to share a tale about his encounters. The full day trip is highlighted by a leisurely paced canoe trip, with all equipment supplied. Offered May to September. Maximum 4 participants.
